Default Rubber fob + seawater....

Hi, note to self... Don't swim in the sea with car keys in your pocket ! Now keyfob thingy won't work... Can I fix it ? Or, how much for a new one ? I'm in New Zealand.

Open it up, rise with fresh water, dry it, see what happens.
Otherwise you are going to have to buy a new one, prob more than your truck is worth.

Use alcohol not water to clean it out. Then bury the fob's electrics in rice for a few hours. Good luck.

Denatured Alcohol. Open the fob, remove the battery, and immerse the entire fob in the alcohol for 2 hours. Use a soft tooth brush to remove any salt deposits you see.

Then bury the fob in uncooked rice under a lamp for another 2 hours.

Then cross your fingers, put it all back together, and give it a go.
