Whats the general consensus on the 98 Disco I with the 4.0? I didnt do any real reasearch on the D1 because I wasn’t shopping for one. I may be now. Can you guys please give me the 30,000 foot overview of pros an cons of the 98’?
I may be looking at a potential new garage mate tomorrow. LOL!

Meh, I passed, guy was too flakey, deal was too rushed, didnt trust the whole situation.

Was it in good shape? Mileage?

It was in great shape, 163k, 2” Lift with old man emu suspension, new tires, new brake pads and rotors, new power steering pump. Push bar with LED light bar. $2k. The ad was posted on the 5th, he said had to sell quick...”Come get it”...... Come to find out he’s leaving town for two weeks THIS MORNING, so I would have had to go look at it last night, in the dark. Pay half the money with cash from the ATM and PayPal the other half...Plus he sent more recent pics that were not in the ad and the back seat was not in it...”Oh its in storage in CO, I’ll bring it next time I’m in town.”...The ad said text only. I never make a transaction unless I, at least, talk to the person on the phone. I tried to call and he didnt answer. Texted back that his phone got wet and fried the speakers so text only. At that point I said Ill pass for now and told him to check back with me if he still has it when he’s back in town so I can talk to him and do my due diligence on the vehicle without being rushed.

Was probably OK in the end... I could’ve easily flipped it if I didnt end up liking it...but I didnt feel good about it. I dont like feeling like its a shady deal. Its just not the way I like to do things and there’s plenty of other Discos out there at great prices.
We plan on buying one more for the wife.

Yup thats the one. I think someone from Guthrie might have bought it. He mentioned someone else interested was coming down from there. Oh well, plenty o fish in the sea. I’m now looking at a LR3 LOL!!! Not sure what direction I’m going at this point.
