Rust, opinions please
Not sure if you can tell from the pic or not, but the hole nearest the door is about 3/4" wide and will be at least 8" long which is no big deal I can fiberglass it. But, by the time I finish the hole in from of the seat will pretty much run the width of the floor, and connect to the hole running parallel to the tunnel which near the seat is atl eat 3" wide, going down to about an inch near the gas pedal. In length it will be atl east 12". My original plan was to fiberglass it, and the rivit Al to the original floor board. I am not sure if ther will be enough structure now. I have never welded before, so that's out of the question. I have researched several threads and found nothing similar. Any ideas? I e been brain storming, but no good ideas yet.

If your dead set against welding, I would use steel diamond plate instead of aluminum, and some good bolts instead of rivets. Just my opinion.
This might be a good opportunity for you to learn how to do some welding though.
home-made rock sliders, bumpers, steering guard, fixing the rest of the rust that's hidden throughout your truck....all kinds of fun to be had with welding and disco ownership

yeah I noticed my front carpets were wet so I pulled them up today, low and behold that awesome rubber backed foam sponge land rover uses for insulation was soaked and dripping wet so I pulled up all the carpet and ripped it out, it's going in the trash, caused lots of surface rust on the floor but a vacuum and dry out then spray with rust killer and I think we will be ok, just a little more road noise but oh well
you know this company uses some dumb ideas in areas, if not for that rubber backed foam I think a lot of rust would have been prevented in a lot of rovers
