Default Safety Devices Roof Rack Question

At one time Safety Devices made a fairing that went in between the lower front bar of the rack and top of windshield. Does anyone have a picture of one?

I sent an email to SD but have yet to hear back.

Thanks,
Matt

If you are looking to reduce wind noise try wrapping a heavy cord spiraling around the bottom front bar closest to the roof. Wind noise is nearly gone.

Thanks for the help. Have recently done that to my rack as well. But was interested if anyone had a picture of what SD offered at one point. I tried emailing them but they could not help.

I saw a pic on google when I was searching this same thing. It was formed fiberglass/plastic with a rubber gasket running the length of the rack sealing the space between that lower bar and the roof. If I recall correctly It was for the factory rack on older models. If I come across the pic I will share.

Evening guys,
Apologies for jacking in, but I have been obsessed with the same issue.
Any luck on that SD fairing? I'm about to spring for a Yakima.
I wonder though - some pics I've seen have the fairing placed over the sloping tubes and touching the roof, and others have it on the topmost tube and touching the sloping tubes, like Baja rack pics...I thought the idea was to cover the open space between roof and rack?
btw, Jwehking - I wrapped bungee cord but on the topmost tube, anyways, they rotted - thinking of using pre-slit rubber like:
Amazon Amazon
Thanks guys.

The pipe insulator works great but was so ugly haha. Had to remove it. I had it on the bottom bar so it sealed the gap between the bar and the roof. Result was No wind noise at any speed. At a compromise now, I’m using tv coaxial spiraled on the bottom bar. Will get lights soon and I think that will reduce the noise too.

wow interesting - that's all it took? good idea, will try the coaxial cable before buying the Yakima...thanks
I took down my 4 Hellas so the whistling past 50mph is driving me nuts.

Lights worse? Hmmm, not good. The cable spiral cut the noise by 80%

update - jury still out on whether it's butt ugly good or just plain ugly.
But it works. Like you said, 80% ish.
Also switched to D2 door seals, so lots better - but still getting wind howl near rear passenger window. Might have to get that fairing after all.

Might just be your window frame loose (screws accessed when you open the door) so it’s not sealing or your door isn’t fully adjusted closed (adjust striker). Can also make sure the weather strip in the window channel hasn’t slipped down. Just pull it up slowly with a needle nose pliers
