Default Shell Rotella Engine Oil

My local Crappy Tire has Rotella T triple protection 15w40 4liters @ 19.99
and the Rotella T5 Synthetic blend heavy duty 0w40 (yes zero w 40) 4liters @ 33.99.
Mike555: what's better on a '99 with 170,000Km?

Also: Oil filter: what's better?
I have a fram sitting on the shelf and I hear that fram is not good for this engine.
Your opinion on Purolator or Napa is appreciated, please provide the part number.
(If you are Canadian you know what Crappy Tire is)

I would just use the 15w-40, in the winter switch to the other but for the summer stick with the 15w-40.

Here in Alaska I use nothing but Rotella. I use the 15w40 in the summer and 5w40 synthetic in the winter. Works great. Shop around some more for a better price. If you have a Walmart nearby I would price your oil there, it will be cheaper. $20 for 4 liters is kind of pricy.

15-40 and 5-40 syn Rotella are fine and what I run in my turbo'd cars as well. 0-40 of any brand will NOT carry enough pressure at hot idle for our engines or many others for that matter.

1515 is the NAPA oil filter and 51515 is the Wix that I use in mine. Its the larger capacity filter than what the oil filter books call for but they fit fine they are just a little longer.

I get Rotella T6 at Wal-Mart for $18 or so, 5 quarts. I run that in my GSXR.

When I drove cement truck we used Rotella 15w-40 in EVERYTHING!!! That means the fork lift, the pick up, the dozer, front end loaders, hydraulics on the trucks, the automatic transmissions on the trucks...EVERYTHING!!! And it was only changed in the engines once a year.
For gear lube we used dino 85w-140 and it was NEVER changed in any of the transfer cases or diffs, gear lube will last one hell of a long time.
