Default She's Cooked. Help!! 😩🤣

G'day
First post so bear with me. 🤣
So after a hand with diagnosing a problem.
I have a 3.9l 96 Disco.
Flooded the engine with water the other day.
Pulled all the plugs and got all the water out, started fine and continued to my camp-site that wasn't too far away and she was running rough as guts. Felt like a miss which is fair enough with all the water that was in the engine bay.
Got to camp, parked up and she coughed and died.

Got towed out the next day and trailered her home then went to work.
Checked all spark and fuel, did a compression test and all cylinders seem fine.
Put new plugs in just in case and replaced the maf sensor.
I don't think i was deep enough for water to get in past the filler cap either.
She turns over and seems like she wants it but just can't get off the ground.
Any ideas on what my problem might be??
Any help would be appreciated 🤣🤣 I'm stumped.

Air, Fuel, and spark without those = she will never run. I'd be checking for fuel at the rail, spark, and verify the airbox is free of any debris. It's a 3.9L V8 with a 14CUX so verify the ECU didn't get wet on the passenger kick panel area, and also if you don't have spark check the dizzy.

Cheers mate.
There's fuel and pressure at the rail, plenty of spark(enough to jolt me round while I was testing it all yesterday) out of all 8 plugs.
are you saying it'd be worth pulling off the plenum to make sure there ain't any unwanted nasties?? I will if you reckon it'll help.
but yea. Didn't get any water inside the carso I doubt it'd be the ecu surely.......

Well if the airbox is clean with no issues, you have spark, and you have fuel at the rail it could be a wet sensor. It turns over correct just doesn't actually fire up and run? The coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing, along with the fuel temp sensor on the fuel rail are pretty picky. Does the little LCD under the passenger seat display any fault codes with the ignition in position II?

Yea she turns over and seems like it tries to fire and start but doesn't have the ability to keep it rolling.
I'll get in and check the sensors then.
I have no clue what your on about about an lcd under the passanger seat. I don't think I've got one. 🤣😩

NAS vehicles have a code reader under the passenger seat. Sounds like yours might not be NAS.

Did water actually make it into the cylinders? Was compression low?

Yea water made it into the cylinders.
Compression when I tested it was between 120 and 135 in all cylinders.

That's a bit low. I guess I would try a spoonful of engine oil in each cylinder to get the pressure up. The water likely washed out the oil on the rings. After that I would check that the injectors are actually firing.

So what path do you think the water took to get into the cylinders? Exhaust or Intake?
