Default Shifter light replacement

I am trying to replace my shift light bulbs. I got the 1st piece of trim up. Looking at the RAVE, it shows to just lift up the wood trim (3rd pic). I’m pulling like crazy, but it feels like I’m going to break it if I lift much harder. I don’t know if it’s screwed somewhere, or just stuck from years of junk.

I also saw where to remove the wood from the shifter to take the handle off, but I don’t see how that helps. I also saw another post that says the numbers just pull up, but those don’t budge either. Can anyone else help? Any ideas?

Once the upper trim bezel is off you can usually twist out the bulb sockets and replace the bulb from there. I highly recommend using a set of Sylvania 168/194 LED bulbs. DO NOT use a regular 168/194 bulb as it will eventually melt your PRND321 Plastic housing. The oem bulbs were very low watt vs what the 168/194 puts out. I haven't had any issues with the basic Sylvania 168/194 LED bulbs though.

Im assuming the bulbs are the black pieces I circled here? My fat fingers can’t fit, but maybe I can get some pliers in there.

Thank you for the bulb tips, I’ll grab some of those.

I’m assuming the black tabs are the bulbs? I can’t get my fat fingers in there, I’ll try some pliers.

Use a plastic trim removal piece from a local auto parts store. The ones for door trims, etc. that they sell. You have the one piece LSE wood laminate trim. That whole piece will need to be carefully lifted up. Get the plastic trim removal tool and go around the edges.

I use this set from Harbor Freight for all interior trim removal. Works great on the door cards, too.

This post may help. https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...ssembly-25186/

Looks like you need to remove the CDL trim piece so that wood trim piece will lift up.

I don't have that wood trim piece, so I could get to the bulbs just by removing that trim ring that you've already removed.

Yeah I didn't think of the skate board being there as I'm so used to the rubber piece. Once you lift that up a bit you'll have a bit more room to work and get the bulb holders out.

I can’t believe I didn’t see that post, that’s exactly my dash, I’ll try it tomorrow.

Thank you

there are 4 pins, one on each corner so it needs to lift straight up from the surface (kind of forward ) otherwise it will break.
