I hate to even ask but here goes: Was it doing anything like that before you went to the off-road park?

Sounds like some water ingestion created a new problem inside the engine.

That is correct or excellerated a problem that wasnt noticed before. I dont understand smoke but compression is ok. It has been brought up that it could be excessive fuel or no spark.

I am trying to figure out if block is toast or not without tearing it all the way down in the middle of winter in PA.. This is why if all else fails I think it's time for leakdown and see where that takes me.

Let me know what you find out. There is a place here that probably has a used engine available pretty cheap near the Pittsburgh Zoo. They gut the major stuff and crush the rest and their prices are very reasonable if you want to look at getting a used one and going thru it yourself if yours does have a major issue.

You may still be able to drive it a while while you get a replacement ready.

Cool thanks - I think if it's getting replaced it will most likely be with a 4.6 - one of Will Tillerys rebuilds or a used one from a local parts guy.

That is last resort of course I'd rather just get this one running through the winter at least since I'd have to rent space if I did a swap in the winter.

Just thought I would offer. I like getting things from Will as well. Did not know he rebuilds the engines.

Maybe it will be something simple and not a major crack or something really bad.

I am sure you could get some folks together and get it done if you do have to do a swap...

Yea I appreciate it - Will has posted up rebuilt 4.6's with D&D internals on dweb for a decent price in the past. Obviously the price is still 3 times what a used one in decent shape costs. Either way I am buying a snorkel before I get close to any water.
