I didn’t get a close look. I see a radio antenna so figure pre ‘95.

Bumper end caps, black wheels, antenna, graphics, looks legit.

96 Eco Challenge/Trek as it has roof rails. 97 XD's didn't have the roof rails. Cool find!

Ya, I'd say there is a good chance you are looking at a 1996 Eco Challenge. Mine shown here for reference.
