after i hit 75 on my 96 disco i get real bad speed shakes, what causes this and how can i fix it??

 

Tie rods (ball joints)
bushings shot

if all looks good, usually not enough pre-load on swivel pin bearings

servicing them is in the rave manual - do them right and you'll never do them again, probably.

It will not be the steering damper, that's only there to protect your thumbs while off-roading.

You shouldn't be driving these things that fast anyway unlss you are trying to get away from somebody.

lol ive got my disco to 105 only because when i went to get in inspected (private inspection) the guy told me i failedemissions but if i went real fast for about 10 miles that it would lower the numbers for a bit and pass me and it worked

 

Holy crap. If I got my beloved Disco up to 105 it would disintegrate around me and they would find me on the highway in the drivers seat holding a steering wheel.

 

Hard to pass inspection sitting in jail for reckless driving and endangerment.

 

yea i know and its not something ive ever done before or plan on doing again. 75 is the fastest ive taken it before that and tahts on a 65 mph state highway
