Default Stereo install questions

I'm getting ready to install a new head unit in my D1. It already has an aftermarket HU in it. There does not appear to be anyway to remove the HU from the front of the dash. How do I disassemble the dash to get to the HU? I found screws behind the switches in the lower part of the dash, I'm guessing these need to come out?

Radios installed in a DIN slot like the Disco are removed using two "keys" that slid in along the sides of the radio, letting you unlatch it from the cage it's in and pull it out.

Sometimes the installation is botched and the cage isn't used, but usually it is.

Try googling the manual for the stereo you have, it may explain how to remove it. You can get a set of universal "keys" at most auto parts stores.

Thank you! So no need to take the dash apart.

I found out you can use two metal nail files if the keys are lost.
