Stop Lights Switch bit the dust
FYI. Funny problem: '96 GEMS Engine starts, truck wouldn't shift out of Park. Brake lights didn't work either. Fortunately, it was parked at home.
Fuse was fine. Turns out the switch on the brake pedal failed open. Several months of daily driving by the kid, 210 k miles plus. I could shift and move it into the garage by jumpering the green wires on the 4-wire plug (turns the brake lights on too). I guess the truck is getting old, like me. I really should retire sooner rather than later....
An AZ in the next town had a switch on the shelf, so I bought it for too much ($43) because I couldn't wait. Now it's back on the road, thanks to the RAVE wiring diagrams. Original part number was AMR 2010. New part number is LR005794. AZ part number was different still, but fit perfectly.
