Swivel ball lube 97 disco
Turn your steering wheel so that the wheel you are working on is facing out, put in a couple ounces of gear oil, then add 10 pumps of grease from your grease gun.
Then turn the other wheel so it is the same, repeat.
This will make "00" grease once it is all mixed together.

thanks I just noticed the LHS is leaking a bit so the thicker the better for now until I replace the seals, I just replaced the RHS exhaust manifold and I had no issues at all the original was quite cracked .
Buy these instead, I did.
I have yet to install them, been to cold and I'm waiting for time in the shop to do front rotors and wheels bearings too.

I didn't either Jimmy until I was searching e-bay for a new swivel.
So I bought them, cost with shipping was under $100 after the UKP's to USD's.
They seem to be of high quality, made from the same stuff they use on CV's for front wheel drive cars.
I just need to install them yet.

spike did you install the gaiters yet? my pass side swivel ball is leaking a little and the oil got on the brake and now the truck is pulling left when i brake.... ugh... going to go with the grease oil mix hoping that will at least slow the leak. its not mixing with the diff fluid so thats good.
Just use the grease. LR went to the grease to prevent (lessen) leaks. The '97 probably does not have the drain plugs for the swivel housings. Valvoline sells multi purpose grease in cartridges (and tubs) which is safe for CV joint use. Just remove the fill plug and pump it in.
You could just take it all apart to replace the seals, and find out the ***** are all pitted and have it still leak like crazy though.
