Default There is no spyder (spider) in NAS DI's. Period, end of story.

I have been joking about this topic on a few threads but it's time to get the facts straight.

The part that Rovers North sells as a bypass for the spyder is in fact for 300Tdi equipped Discovery models. No where on their website does it mention anything about North American Spec (NAS) DI's. Look at any link to the spyder posted on any thread, be it the "Definitive Alarm Spyder Post" or any other, THEY ALL TALK ABOUT 300Tdi DI's not NAS V8 models.

Be my guest, if you doubt me, tear into your dash to prove me wrong. I've disassembled well over 100 of these trucks, '94-'99, 14CUX to GEMS, SD to LSE and the spyder does not exist on NAS trucks.

It's time to stop spreading this erroneous information with regard to NAS DI's.

but, for sure, I have at least 3 in my d2. maybe more. one is fairly large and has a web-like housing, located below the blower motor.

It's my bet that the jumper RN sells isn't even for the green alarm ecu. That green ecu was used with GEMS efi ecu's. I'll bet that the earlier, black ecu, similar but not identical, to the one found on NAS Di's and RRC's in '94 and '95 is the one that would use that jumper. That's why for ROW DI's from '97-'98 that bypass doesn't work. While I can't confirm it, I'd be willing to guess that by '97 the DI was using that green alarm on all ROW models as well as NAS models.

Pretty reasonable bet. ROW defenders that have alarm systems have the same or similar Lucas 10AS system too.

Tell you guys what, in the 1995 V8i D1 I have bought just recently I not only found one spyder behind where the radio was but three - AND there was pack rat under the rear seats - and a whole untouched walnut (way too large for a pack rat) amongst some seeds that could only have been brought in by a squirrel.

Fortunately no mice - these deer things possibly could not get along with the bad spyders.
