Thermostat question
ive been looking to put in a 180 tstat to hopefully help my idle temp but cant seem to find a true 180 degree one for a 97 discovery 1 4.0 v8. also the tstats I have seen are completely different than the stock spring types, how would I install the tube looking kind. can anyone help me out

I'm not entirely sure what you mean to say by "blew a valve cover gasket". They should not be under much pressure. Certainly not enough to 'blow'.
Check your PCV thingamabob (oil catch) under the hose which connects from the top of the passenger side valve cover to the plenum. It is possibly clogged.

the passengers side valve cover gasket is blown out and leaking a minimal bit of oil. I plan on pulling the cover today and replacing the gasket when it comes in in a day or two. as far as I remember it wasn't there prior to installing the new fan clutch but I don't think it can have anything to do with it anyways. maybe just from running a little hotter than preferable for a couple days.
