Things we know.........
is that your story Eric? do you mean the CT Discovery or the race itself? IMO your rig will eat the CT Disco stock.
you'll do an ECU bypass, or maybe a ECU re-solder. a camel cut, a front bumper cut. You'll take off those running boards and factory brush bars. Do the Ghetto Grill, add a lift kit. Add the big oil filter, switch to Rotella, discover a tick. A bunch of window motor and regulator slider repairs.
You'' scratch the roof cuz you put in that lift kit, you wont be able to use any multilevel parking.
You'll sit on the side of the highway waiting for it to cool down.
It'll get stuck in park and you'll have to touch some wires on the back window to get it out. Once a year you won't be able to get turn it over because the key won't move.

You will buy an Ultra-Gauge because they are cool.
You will ignore the constant beeps and warnings.
You will finally disconnect it when you get tired of it reminding you that you are barely getting 9MPG.

Your Ultra gauge will make you paranoid when you see how much the temps fuctuate. (They should tell you this up front.)
Then you'll read through the forum and feel so good you don't have any of the problems listed, then the following day "issues" pop up just like you've read about!
The race. It's still serving its purpose of selling discos all these years later...

thats the thermostat doing its job, theres a reason factory gauges are filtered/damped
