Default Thinking of Blacking Out The Raised Portion of My Hood

Been considering it for a while now. I'm toying with the idea of using a spray can of plastidip to do it just in case I want to take it off. Anyone tried this?

I think ArmyRover did his that way. It seems like a good way to do it because if you don't like it you can just peel it off.

I have done hood blackouts, wheels and whole cars in plasti-dip. Works great lasts a few years and if you get tired of it easily removed. Make sure to wipe the surface down well to get any dirt or wax off. Also be sure to pull the masking tape as soon as you finish the last coat.

I used some wrap on my other car when the roof cover started to peel off. It was a vinyl wrap with a carbon fiber print on it and it turned out really great looking! When you put it on, you use an adhesive promoter and peel the backing off, then stick it on like shelf paper. When you get tired of it, it peels off. The promoter comes off with rubbing alcohol. I used an edge sealer on the edges to keep them down tight. Been trying to decide if I want to do this to my hood (raised portion) as at times I get a lot of glare when driving into the sun.

Plastic dip is probably cheaper, but the carbon fiber look was nice.

Check for Duplicolor's "Custom Wrap" removable paint.

I see it at the local auto store, and it would peel off like plastidip.

My own hood had damaged paint anyway, so I just used black paint. I tried flat black, but it would turn white/gray over time. I painted it again with a matte/semi-gloss (VHT chassis and roll bar paint), and it stays black now without being shiny.

Awesome! I'll add this to the list of mods. Thanks for the input.
