Thinking of buying a 97 Discovery Disco SE7 Couple of questions
Hi
I am looking to go and buy a 97 Discovery Disco SE7 - its all power etc...even has an ARB Bumper and Snorkel...and a center locking diff.
This would be my first one - have always liked them and heard about the toughness...I am a logger and need to do a lot of off-roading...
I was wondering how hard it would be to get parts for this. Some say its tough and expensive, but I have read from others that it really isn't any more expensive then most vehicles.
I figured if it costs about the same as a diesel pickup - it should be worth it.
I am looking to go and buy it TOMORROW - so if someone could let me know ASAP and maybe some other important info that I should know - Please let me know....
Thanks in advance.
James

If you do buy it, make sure the CDL isn't frozen, if so there's a fix. How many miles? If you do buy, or before you buy, check out the sticky on DI maintenance, go to the new owners link, 60k mi service and look over the list of what you should do should you choose to undertake this operation.
Oh and Atlantic British, Rovers North and Rock Auto for your parts, if you try and buy from the dealership, you'll pay 300% more. Spike and Disco Mike here as well as Danny Lee and various other nefarious characters are a wealth of info. Also in Chris-Bob's signature and a few others you can download the RAVE manual, it's almost everything you'd ever want to know about our Disco's.
These are fickle machines but some of the most capable on a mountain, just need to show them love.

first off the cdl is standard on all d1s, read over the maintainence sticky for an idea of common problems. probably the biggest common problem with these things are overheating issues which in a lot of cases lead to head gasaket failure, at 150,000 they may have already been done so check with the owner and see what other maintainence has already been done.
