thinking of selling the 96.
Thinking about letting the 96 go. I have to many projects going on and need to narrow my focus a little.
I wondering what I should ask for it. if I should sell it now, of finish getting it fully going and sell it then.
I've got about 3k in it now, not including my labor, needs the TPS and ball joints to get it on the road. I'm kind of tired seeing it just sitting there.
The Interior is all but perfect. Nicest interior I've ever seen on a rover. Body is strait, with only a quarter sized ding in one of the rear quarter panels.
Have the original bush guard and tail light covers. The tires on it have less than 5k miles on them. (previous owner)
It will fire right up, and sounds great. It's running rich, (TPS?) Has 180k on it.
Here a list of what I have done to it since I bought it.
Fixed the Dash curl
Toddco Headers, all new pipe, a pair of Monro cats, to a flowmaster 40.
New valley Pan gasket
New monro struts all the way around
New wipers front and rear.
New headliner
Both Sunroofs have been fixed
Fixed AC.
Fixed the seat control switches.
replaced all the door latch springs
All hoses new
Radiator flushed
New thermostat
What I know it needs.
Ball Joints
TPS Sensor?
Center pump for window washer
gaskets around the rear door and rear quarter glass
power steering pump? (Was working perfect than I topped it off with power steering fluid and it started knocking)
There is not a speck of rust anywhere on this truck. Body, Frame, under the carpets... all perfect.
All this work and I still have not driven it. (other than to the shop to get the pipe welded in). Meanwhile it's sitting there costing me insurance etc. I bought this truck from it's Original owner.
Any offers?

If that is all it needs, I would finish fixing it and sell it. You would get more than what you would put in parts. I have a known-good TPS I'd sell for next-to-nothing. All 4 ball joints,if you're talking steering, can be had well under $100. The weather strip I might skip and try and sell. It's cheap, bit PITA to install. But mechanicals would be solid.

I don't remember where, but I saw a kit at a rover parts place that was a screw down metal 2 piece bar, kinda acted like a clamp. The other way I have seen was to remove the winshield, re-glue where it's curling, and place massive weight on it 'til it dries.

It's a real pain in the *** job with the windshield in... took me about 2 hours. You heat up a nail, and poke the dash where the screws are going to go (I'm talking red hot) Then you screw it down, because of the windshield you need something that able to screw down at 90 deg. (Think a philips driver bit and a small enough wrench to hold it)
If you had the windshield out, it would be a 10 minute job.
Looks factory when your done. Something they should have done in the factory in my opinion.
The only other option I know of is to remove the windshield, glue down the dash and hold it in place with clamps while the glue sets... I've read about someone doing this... The retainer kit is a much better way.
BTW, I also have the original Land rover sheep skins, the original cargo cover, and the original auto lower bike rack thing that goes into you hitch.

Went out and did a full walk around the truck. This is the first time I have even started it in almost 3 weeks, and then to move it over a parking spot.

You notice the ticking power steering. not sure if I can save that or not, I guess I could try and drain it and put Tans fluid in there. It started right after pouring power steering fluid in.
But as you can see in the video, this is a VERY clean truck. You also can hear how nice it sounds now with the new headers, mufflers etc...

Very nice looking truck, I did notice a little oil puddling up on top of that water pump, did you make sure the valve cover bolts are snug? Mine leaked like that until I snugged those valve cover bolts recently. I thought it was the valley pan gasket.

Very nice looking truck, I did notice a little oil puddling up on top of that water pump, did you make sure the valve cover bolts are snug? Mine leaked like that until I snugged those valve cover bolts recently. I thought it was the valley pan gasket.

It doesn't leak at all, anywhere. I can shoot a shot of the cement it's sitting on and it's clean. There is a little cleaning I need to do to it underneath from when it was leaking.
