How have you routed your wires from your lights back into your rover? I have a few ideas but wanted to see what others are doing.

I would like to know the same. However when I asked everyone on other forums they said you go to the gutters and in the by the front windsheild and drivers door. They said you dont have to cut a hole. I dont understand what there talking about.

I believe what they are talking about spence is popping the outside trim off the a-pillar and routing down that I believe. Check out the write-up that was done on moving the axle breather tubes up high. It will show you how to pop those trim pieces off as I understand they can be a bit tricky. I can't seem to find it but maybe spike can. He can probably explain it better than I can too.

 

Don't the black tubes on the top have a place where you can come thru the frame into the cab?

 

I took my lights off, sucked to much petrol.
I literally lost 2mpg by having the lights on the roof rack.

 

ouch...Was the loss because of wind resistance or electricity usage?

Wind resistance, my lights were not hooked up, they came with the SD rack, after a month of going broke buying fuel I took them off.
When it is no longer my daily driver I will put different lights back on it.
Now in the lights defense they were square, so there was literally a wall of lights for the wind to hit, turn into the wind while on the expressway and you could fell the truck actually slow down until the cruise gave it more gas.
The lights looked cool, but I cant afford to look cool right now.

I love function and form. If it looks like $#!T and don't work then why do it?

I have all 5 rack lights (2x Hella 3000, 2x 1000 and rear flood) wiring run through the tubes of the rack. Lemmie tell ya, the rear was no picnic as far as time but was really very simple... drilled the hole, attached a small nut to a string and maneuvered the rack through a whole bunch of angles to get the mouse out the hole drilled for all wires to exit thru above the drivers door. And like the Medic says, the drivers "A" pillar is where all connections are located... staggered of course so they are not a thick bunch of bullet connectors all in one spot.

Drilled a hole in the roof just above the gutter, fed wires thru with a gromet and plenty of sealant.

And I wanted that Land Rover factory "Special Vehicles" touch so did away with the volume switches on the left side of cluster and installed two switches for forward facing lights....... all relays are in the kick panel by the fuse panel.



and a switch for the rear flood next to the cruise control switch...




Finished product is clean and protected from branches...

All this work was ABSOLUTELY worth it. NO exposed wires, no zip ties and the rack can still be removed with an extra 10 minutes of work.
