I am in the middle of a head gasket job on my '98 D1, just got the heads back from the shop yesterday.
I was wondering if there was a consensus on using thread sealers or not on the;
a. Intake manifold bolts ( there was some kind of sealant residue on them when I took them out)
b. Ram housing bolts
c. Plenum bolts
and
d. Valve cover bolts

If yes, any recommendations?

Blue loctite on intake. The rest isn't "required" or done from the factory so it's up to you

 

I use what the manual lists for each.

 

And use some on the v/c bolts, they tend to vibrate loose and cause a leak.
