Default Throttle went wide open!!!!

Guys,

I had just finished doing the second swivel ball with the one shot, did some cleaning around and under he engine to see what else may have been leaking. I let it sit a while after some spot degreasing and washing/wiping in various areas.

I cranked it up and went for a short ride. At the first intersection, I almost had to stand on the brake and she took off like a bat out of hell with throttle wide open. I knocked it into N and it started reving way up. i switch it off immedeiately anbd popped the hood.

The throttle linkages seen really stiff. I sprayed it with PB Blaster and tried to manually work it. it feels like the insides of the bellows device in the linkage is getting crazy.

I HAVE NOT HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS LINKAGE BEFORE SO I NEED ALL THE GOOD INFO YOU GOT ON IT.

All help appreciated. I did a search but did not find anything relkated. i will reading the RAVE while I await your knowledgeable assistance...

Unhook the linkages and see if the throttle will move easily.
Also make sure all of your springs are in place.
Have you tried pulling the gas pedal back up?

I was just looking at it. When you press gas pedal and release, the linkage from the bellows to the end at the engine stays in a screwed up position. As if the internals of the bellows assembly is screwed up for lack of a better way to state it. Will take some pics and update.

What do you call that piece with the bellows?

Took another look at it, and my son messed with it a minute, it seems the linkage for whatever reason had a slight kilter to it and was hanging up really bad. He messed with it a minute and it pretty much returned to normal.

I need to learn more about the throttle linkages and how they should be. I got it somewhat smoothed out and decided to leave it alone for tonight.

One more question. If I do not need the cruise control, could I just remove the cruise control actuator?

Why would you remove the cruise control? Fix it. Probably doesn't work because of a vaccume line.
