Trading in 2012 Forester for Disco 1
#21
Yup sorry, typing on my phone in haste meant I could have been more clear.
What I was trying to say was that a forester with a 2" lift will get you lots of places.
I run two D1's. A completely stock 97 SD manual car on all season tires and a lifted 99 SD auto with Duratracs (235/85 16)
there aren't many places that my stock vehicle won't take me that my modified one will. (In some cases it'd require more effort to drive around the limitation of smaller tires.)
Having a dual ratio transfer case does make a huge difference and I use it a lot with my automatic. It really depends on the type of off-road driving that you do. Usually I'm loaded up with dog, kids and camping gear so I'm not looking to incur body damage or risk getting stuck in those types of scenarios.
if you live anywhere close to the Pacific Northwest drop me a DM if you want to drive either of my Disco's if that would help you decision.

Thanks, Robert, I appreciate the offer. I live in Colorado but I have friends in the PNW and make it up there a couple of times a year to camp and climb. If I get a chance to visit in the spring before I pull the trigger on a D1, I'll shoot you a DM.
On that note, if anyone else reading this happens to live in Colorado and is willing to let me go for a ride in theirs, I'd be happy to trade a case of beers or something for the favor.
