Trailer Towing
I own a 1998 Disco 1 and need to know if it is safe to tow a load weighing 3400 lbs. (trailer and cargo weight combined) I have a double axle enclosed trailer and no trailer brakes hooked up. Driving a distance of 100 miles, with a $10000 Can Am Commander as cargo, so some definite jack on the line here.....what do you think is this a bad idea?

The RAVE manual set includes the owner manual. From that we have:
So hook up the trailer brakes..... it is important to note that your insurance policy might go ***** if your were not following established procedures. Most small trailers are insured by the tow vehicle, check with your agent to be sure.
Unbraked trailers .................................................. . 1650 lb (750 kg)
Trailers with brakes - high range ........................... 5500 lb (2495 kg)
Trailers with brakes - low range ............................. 7700 lb (3490 kg) -
Roof rack load .................................................. ..... 110 lb (50 kg) **
Maximum permissible tongue weight .................... 330 lb (150 kgTrailers with brakes - high range ........................... 5500 lb (2495 kg)
