Default transfer case oil recommendations

I know I'm overthinking this, but I've looked online and see a few different opinions about what weight/type to use. I've got a 96 Discovery 1 with 120k miles. Atlantic British seems to have 75w-90 for both the differential and transfer case, but I saw some people suggesting a thicker 85w-140. So what's everybody using?

Side note: I tried to search for a solid answer on this in the forum, so If this has been answered already I apologize.

Thanks!

Some are of the opinion that the heavier oil is easier on the gears and can help make them more quiet. Unless you are in a super cold area I don't think it can hurt.

The official literature calls for 90W which is what I use.

The bottom line is, like most other fluids and lubricants in particular, stick to the recommended service intervals. Some replace the oil in all three differentials every year just because it is cheap insurance. I change mine around 15,000 miles.

I cooked up this arrangement to pump oil into the diffs.

And you don't need to buy your oil from AB. Walmart is fine.
