notice replacing the filter (which is actually a metal screen) is a repair item not a maintenance item, however if you are leaking from the trans sump pan it may be better to drop it and replace the screen at the same time. Just keep in mind the exhaust y pipe and middle cross-member must be removed to access the filter.
