turn signals / marker lamps
Wanted to say thanks to all the members who have taken time to share their knowledge for others. I purchased a 98 disco and it had a number of issues starting with the old brake light switch, compounded by rear wire ground short and bad third brake light, with the stuck park solenoid and key jammed in ignition thing. Thanks to this forum all have been repaired. So I now have what hopefully is a stupid question. Most vehicles orange turn signals also act as marker lights (constantly illuminated) when first position on headlight switch is engaged ( second position being headlights completely on ). This does not happen on mine and after watching online footage of disco1's driving at night, this seems to be normal. Just wanted to verify that signal lights both front and fender side remain completely off until turn signal engaged even with headlights fully engaged. Praying I don't have to spend another day off tracking down wires and can go fishing. Its my first posting so flame on!!
I'm glad you brought this up. I think you can get double pole bulb sockets for a P38. Install a dual filament bulb and connect the extra lead to a parking light circuit.

Just need a pigtail I think.

The original bumper was switched out for the land rover tube bumper with the headlight guards however the bumper end caps don't seem to be there. Not sure if I will be able to pass the safety check without the lights so thanks for the idea on the dual filament socket and bulb, I may need it. As usual this forum rocks.
