Default U-Joint Recommends

Hi all, I've got a spent u-joint and was hoping for an Amazon-based replacement. The sooner I get it I can put in and be back in the road!

My second option is the 3-pack from Lucky8.

Does anybody have preferences, opinions?

Thanks!

I went through this with my 97 D1 earlier this year and went through two brands.

First were Moogs which were absolutely overpriced garbage. They were slightly oversized and you couldn't get the circlips seated without putting too much tension on the bearing making it virtually impossible to move. I ended up getting SKF brand joints from Napa and they've been going strong since.

Thanks! Will pick up 2 tomorrow and do the rear. Did you do all 4 at once? Any tips? Looks fairly straightforward and I have everything I need to do the job (for once!)

Sure thing! You can order them cheaper off RockAuto, I was in the middle of doing them all at once and just wanted it done. Napa definitely charges a premium that's for sure.

I grabbed some from Atlantic British which have been solid, but there is some wait time. Don’t forget to give some love to all your grease nipples while you’re under there!

Having a hell of a time pressing out the joints via the 2 socket/vice method. Going to try to bang them a lil bit and attempt again tomorrow. All the videos online their joints slide out pretty easily?

The first time I did it, it definitely was a pain. The easiest experience I’ve ever had doing them was using a Bottle-Jack Press that you can get at Harbor Freight. The first time I did it though was with a C-Clamp, a over-sized socket for the side I was trying to push out and small socket for the side I was attempting to push on. Unfortunately, that method is a pain and is slow going…
