Update
Hello
First I need to clarify some things. I do not have the ability or necessary permissions to produce these on a large scale so I will not be offering any DIY kits for sale. However I will provide all the necessary files, drawings, dimensions and prints for anyone to replicate what I have made for free. I understand there is money to be made here but I feel this is just compensation for the knowledge I have received from this forum. Also I was disgusted by the prices of some of the bumpers available for the Discovery. This is a project any home builder can accomplish I am just providing a guiding path.
Koz... The rails I drew are also modeled after the ones I found online. I caution you though the body is not parallel to the ground or the sill and bending square tube without the proper equipment is a right proper PITA.
Regarding cost. The home builder should be able to complete these well under 300. I will include a bill of materials and approximate material price using mild steel plate and sheet. Should you desire to show off to a few jeepers I would recommend AR400 armor plate. Considerably more expensive but it's the same material used to make the MRAP and M1 Abrams tank, literally bullet proof.
Finally as promised... pictures.

steering skid blues
Just revisited the steering skid plate. Having reviewed some commercially available products I'm concerned about excessive howling at speed. Most commercially available skids have holes or slots cut in them. In my line of work those holes would cause stress risers and can be a source of material failure under load. Aside from the fractional weight loss can anyone weigh in on the value of having holes in the steering skid plate

I get a lot of mud jammed in behind the bumper. I don't know if the holes can help clear mud above a skid plate or not, but I can only imagine it would get packed. On bikes I've seen coarse foam used to keep mud from accumulating between the skid plate and the crankcase. I can also imagine that a full coverage skid plate could create some cooling issues but I'm just speculating.

Yes I have taken the bend into account and my mfg facility has the proper equipment / tools. Once you throw up your drawings ill establish estimated weight for shipping, freight cost, lead time, & cost per piece for a group buy if anyone is interested. Not looking to make money on this. Just to give back to the forum. I'll price it all at my cost.
