Up armoring
Yea I realized that this morning. This is not the final product. I just wanted to get something modeled and go back later to refine, as I was drawing I had several reference pictures up on my projects board of different designs. I liked the rear light hoops but when I got to the front It was getting late and I wasn't entirely sure how I wanted it to look and this took the least time to model. I'm not out to take business from anyone so it will be changed.

I've never heard of Urban Offroad, are they even in business anymore?
Never heard of that company before...but a quick search and i found the following:
Urban Offroad Home Urban Offroad

Here's my thoughts.
- I'm not a fan of steering skids. IMO HD steering rods are a much better option. That said, I know a lot of guys like them so it might be wise to make them. I think maybe 5 holes to drop the weight and to add to the looks.
- Sill sliders look good, but yeah they need a bend to follow the door bottoms. Outriggers to the frame are a nice feature as well but is seldom done.
- Frame sliders. These are the ones Tom was talking about. I had a nice set in stainless steel I just sold. These bolt to the actual frame rails and have a skid under the frameside trailing arms mounts.

you had frame sliders and did not think of me wtf

my skid plate is more to protect from something jumping up and damaging the oil filter of front of engine but is low enough to help cover some of the hd steering
if you look through my thread theres lots o pics think the radius arm damage is there
Oops!
They were nice ones, too. 1/4" Stainless Steel. They looked like they did the day I installed them 4 years ago, and that's saying something up here by Chicago.

That is one amazing looking bumper G.I. Joe!
I can't wait to see the finished product! I have been waiting a long time for something like this! Love the lines and the shape!
I have a welder friend who I will pay in rum and beer to fab this up for my '97 Discovery 5 speed!
Looking forward to the diagrams/plans, and thank you!

Good Afternoon
Its been a very busy few weeks at work and haven't had much time to make progress. Took today off today to get some work done. Good news prototype front bumper is built and welded. Bad news I seem to have forgotten how to use a tape measure. My inter frame measurements were off by about 3 inches. I believe I may have invented a few new swearwords after I discovered my mistake. Thankfully some welding engineers offered assistance. A few phone calls later and they had assembled 3 weld engineers, 2 other mechanical engineers, a Manufacturing engineer and an Astronaut to help redesign the bumper mounts. Because of the help I was also able to make progress on the steering skid, Roof Rack and Sill protection. I should have plans for the front bumper by the end of the month. Thanks for the encouragement
