It doesn't exist on my 1997. Is it part of a dizzy setup from a 1993-1995. Maybe someone swapped an intake.

Thank you Walt, the only pictures I could find with it were a dizzy setup and I was beginning to think I lost my mind

My other 97 doesn't have it either and I was stumped

That's where the vapor canister goes on my 96 4.0L, (pre-advanced evaps).

Yep it'll be an AEL vs Non AEL thing. My 97 is non AEL = no nipple, I think late 97-99 AEL equipped D1's it went to the larger square Evap canister under the hood.

I have a 96 non AEL obviously - mine has a line to the evap canister from there

Why ? - Because it is a California car and it was extra emissions for the state

This is not mine but the same as mine as it is too cold and dark to go out and get a pic but this is a California emissions setup for a 1996 - hopefully you can zoom in and see the line-out to the evap.

Mine is an early '97 manual sd (11/96) with AEL and doesn't have it. The mystery deepens.

Does the line snake over to the canister?
