I never heard of a ring and pinion causing vibrations before but anythings possible. As far as replacing the ring and pinion any driveline shop can do it or you can swap out the whole diff in a few hours for a used one (DI and DII are interchangable).

 

I spoke with a ring & pinion guy today and he said that it is most likely not a ring & pinion issue. He said that a ring & pinion issue would manifest with a whining noise first 90% of the time and then failure. I found absolutely no metal in the diff when I drained it, so I tend to believe him.

He said it is pretty simple no vibration before lift and vibration after lift, means only one thing, pinion angle issue. I think I will do like Spike suggested and load the bad end down with a lot of weight to get the suspension to compress and see if the vibration still exists. I just didn't want to go buy a ton of bricks and then return them, but I guess I will have too.

I know this is an old thread, but seems no resolve came from it. I have my truck lifted 2" and was smooth and nice, until I replaced the stock root flex with u-joint shaft. Now I have a vibration from 30-40 again at about 60-65 then gone at 70. Let off throttle and no vibration. same issue as above. Had the driveshaft checked and it is balanced. Front shaft is good also.

 

Motor or trans mounts ? If only under power may a place to look

 

I had checked all them. I'm a diesel tech by trade. So checking for vibration is not above me. I am open to all ideas since I am human and do forget things lol. Strange part is I put the old shaft back on and vibration goes away. Yet new one checks out to be good. Starting to wonder if its the reason LR put the roto flex on to begin with. I had a 68 caddy with a double cardan driveshaft due to driveshaft vibrations from a standard driveline. Surely like to get to the bottom of this though.

 

Too much play in transfer case? Loose bolts somewhere?trans shudder?
