Default wandering /high idle

OK since I had the loss of my TPS due to a short ( which is fixed) I now have an odd idle problem sometimes I start and it shoots to around 2k other times 6/700 or 8/900 I am burning through fuel at an alarming rate and don't think it is totally due to the cold weather all sensors look normal

Have 0451,1447 codes for emisions ( waiting on new fuel sender) doubt they are causing it, any ideas??

Please, rather not have the engine grenade on warm up

Your ECU might have to relearn the TPS, or have your adaptive values reset.

adaptive values means I am screwed cause that's why I got rid of the old ecu, no one around here can do it apparently not even the dealer

The dealer should definitely be able to do it. The tech plugs into the ODBII port. 5 minutes later he's done. Couldn't be easier.

WTF the DEALER drilled and turned the screw!? We had a local guy that did that to his truck to band aid the real problem. In the end the new owner of the truck installed a new intake.
My advice is NEVER go back to that dealer, find a good Indy mechanic.

I have tried there are none and every euro shop I have asked says no rover

What is the cheapest scanner with the ability to reset the ecm?

Black Box Solutions Nanocom but it's better suited for newer Rovers because of all it can do for them. It works for our antiques but not as much functionality for the price and aint cheap but it's less than an Autologic. If I'm not mistaken can't PT do the resets with the ECM off the truck?

.?

It has also been suggested voltage is my problem, I have only seen 14+ a few times on the ug usually around 13.5 +/- , cleaned terminals, replaced battery, checked grounds and added grounds, tried several alt, current one I had rebuilt so thinking it is the disco not the alt

Did you ever get to the root cause of the high idle problem ? I had a chevy pickup that had the same issue, turned out to be a leaking TB gasket. Of course, the reason I ask is, my 98 D1 started doing the same thing today. Random high idle at startup, around 1500 -1800, when cold. Not all the time, but enough to be noticeable and annoying. Sometimes it settles in by itself after a few minutes, sometimes it won't and takes a couple restart cycles to get it back to normal. And when it does reach normal rpm, there's some hunting going on. I'm looking at TPS, VSS, MAF, fuel trim, 02, etc and everything looks normal for that level of RPM & temp. No apparent vacuum or intake gasket leaks. Cleaned IAC. Voltage is rock solid 13.6, on UG and verified with meter. Hope you have the silver bullet for this one cuz I'm stumped.
