well went wheeling today in batsto n.j. got stuck, bad, it took so long to get the winch cable out and us unstuck I ended up with a few inches of water in the cabin, engine ran the entire time winch submerged entire time

winch pulled us out no problem so anyone crying the hf winches are not sealed and junk can go pound sand it was completely under water, wireless remote worked awesome only has 20-30' range though

everything under the hood was drenched and we had 0 issues drove rest of day through 20+ deep puddles no problems so guess I waterproofed it good enough

Hey Tom, this link isn't working for me.

This is what you got right?
MG Chemicals 419C Acrylic Lacquer Conformal Coating, 340g (12 Oz) Aerosol Can, Clear: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific MG Chemicals 419C Acrylic Lacquer Conformal Coating, 340g (12 Oz) Aerosol Can, Clear: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

Is this still working well for you? any issues? Any more tips on doing this? I'm enjoying following your thread. Good stuff, has a lot of things I want to do to mine.

That's the stuff, I actually changed ecm cause that was stuck high idle before I found the place to reset it, it never shorted or died though, guess I should open it to look inside and probly spray new ecm also

Guess open it in house be carefully, disassemble no static discharge maybe let dry indoor day or so then spray follow directions on can let dry well, I am thinking when I do the new ecm to seal case afterward with sensor safe RTV just to be sure it is sealed, I say leave open for a few days in house cause I do recall concerns about condensation if you seal it, lots of dielectric grease on the plugs

When I first got my DI amongst the problems I had, I opened up the ECM (under the hood by the Washer fluid tank) and it had a lot of white powdery residue in there. I cleaned it all out and washed it down with contact cleaner. I sealed the outside of the ECU after I assembled it. If I add the dielectric grease, will that keep things dry or do I need to do more inside the truck?? Just looking for opinions.

Not planning on taking it swimming but you never know...

Dielectric grease just helps fight off corrosion in the connectors keeps water out , I also sprayed the case with that coating in the link above, only way I see to seal the case is rtv it shut

I used the dielectric grease on all connections on the vehicle including grounds it can be bought in good sized tubes by permatex, don't buy the pressurized can it is a waste looses pressure and can is trash unless you plan to use a lot fast
