In short your engine will self destruct.

Premium fuel runs cooler than regular, run regular and the oil inside the heads bakes and causes excessive sludge build up, which in turn clogs the oil passages, no oil lubricating the engine and it blows up.

You will get a 10-15% reduction in MPG.

Your engine will blow up.

Bottom line, it is required per Land Rover, use it or pay the price.

Think of it this way...
20 gal of 87 octane at $2.50 per gallon equals $50.
20 gal of 93 octane at $2.70 per gallon equals $54.

that's weird! I don't think I can remember ever seeing the prices of fuel grades being anything other than 10 cents apart. I have seen separate prices for cash and card but that's it! maybe that's the super high octane, what is it 97 grade or something?

Yeah, I only got 265,000 out of my 3.9 running midgrade, then the head gasket finally let go.

Not only that, but the engine will run like crap, you will get even less horsepower due to it running like crap. I take it a step further and only run High octane Ethanol free fuel.

Besides getting yelled at, you can carbon up your engine causing you really big expenses, you will loose power and MPG. Do you get the point?

Wow. Fuel here in western WA is ~ $3.30 for premium. Fortunately, I only put about 3K miles per year on the Rover.

Also, I have never seen 93 octane fuel in my life. Perhaps the west coast (I grew up in northern California) doesn't have it. Our highest octane is 92.
