What to look for?????
Figured I start a new tread for this question so it does not get lost in my another thread. I'm about to buy this http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/ct...46394.html.Now i know it's a buy here pay here lot and all of that but I have to do what i have to do. (see DicoI vs DiscoII for back story)
So my question is what are the best things to look for on a land rover to evaluate the over all condition of the vehicle to see if is have been maintain properly. also is there anything to look for that a person that is not familiar with LR's would overlook when prepping a vehicle at a car lot

I have read this thanx.. looking for more specific thing to look for like can you teel i fthe head gasket or water pump has been changed, what if anything could they do i stop warring lights from coming on!! thing like this
When you first turn the key on do not start the engine and watch to see what warning lights come on, the amber check engine light, the red service soon light, the anti lock light, the srs, low fuel warning, battery, oil pressure lights should all come on.
But before you even start it check the oil, remove the oil filler cap and look inside the valve cover as well as the inside of the cap.
Check the coolant level, there is a "X" inside the overflow tank, it is supposed to be underwater.
Check the power steering fluid, it has a dip stick so easy to check.
There is no real way to check for headgaskets etc.
After you start it go back to under the hood and pull the transmission dipstick and check the trans fluid condition/level.
While sitting there check the wipers/washers.
Listen for unusual noises from the engine.
While driving does the cruise work? Turn on the master power switch (skateboard on dash) and then use the SET button on the steering wheel.
Does the rear defroster work.
Power locks/windows.
Nothing usual in a Rover from a Chevy or any other car that you test drive.
