Default What would you pay?

Looking at the following D1 and want some opinions about what it's worth realistically, and what you would pay for it. Seller wants 14k. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-discovery-15/

14k? Low miles, ARB air lockers installed, functional winch, safari gaurd sliders and bumpers, pretty clean, supposedly all works except for cruise... i think they could get more if they waited forever but 14k is an ok price in my head for what you're getting... needs hood and roof paint... no rust at all right?

Thanks for the reply. There's no rust according to the seller and the photos, having it inspected tomorrow but so far I don't expect any hidden problems. I priced all the add-ons out to roughly 7k which puts the truck itself at 7k as well, which seems reasonable enough.

I wouldn't sell my nearly flawless 95 for any less than 15k. Everything on it works minus the Cruise Control (D2 CC ECU in it's future). My gold paint is original but not oxidized at all. Mechanically/Electrically = a 9.9 outta 10 & 100% TX truck without a spot of rust.

Clean D1 examples = rare these days!

I'm a DIY guy... with a family... if I had a D1 and air lockers and sliders and bumpers and winch sitting in the garage.. it would take me 6 months to get around to putting them together. This being ready to go would be worth it to me. (Says the guy with winch mount, onboard air, slider material sitting in garage waiting for the weekend I can take my wife's d5 apart and intall the stuff). Hunting all this stuff down, if it is stuff you want, then getting it sorted, then actually installing it properly... on an already sorted D1 would be difficult to replicate for less than 14k... and would move your time frame back... so it depends on if you are ready to go... or looking for a hobby project to keep you busy.

I would pay about twice that, once all the expenses were accounted for. Don't be fooled into thinking that vehicle won't cost you many thousands more than the sale price.

Twice? That's quite a bit, I figured a sanity check was in order for 14k, especially since BaT can run above the market prices sometimes.

I can give you my real world experience with a one owner 75K mile CA car - I had it gone over from stem to stern and like someone above said I still had to put about $5K into mechanicals - this includes shop labor and parts (obviously if you can wrench everything yourself) that will help - they always seem to need something and to address all the gremlins it will take some coin

Glad to see these kind of sale prices - thought even decent ones were selling for $5-10K

Maybe we will achieve NAS 90 Defender prices - LOL

I've already gone totally over my 95 so maybe 20k is more like it then. TJM Front bumper, new SS brake lines, OME 2.0inch lift, new shocks, new F/R proportioning valve, new MT's, LED interior light bulbs, D2 headlights, HG job, valve job, new water pump, fan clutch, coolant hoses, spark plugs, spark plug wires, cap & rotor, new coil, new amplifier, and a few other odds & ends.

I never sell a vehicle in poor condition. They're always better vs when I bought em no doubt.

Only things I would do to the 95, is tint the rear windows, redo the headliner as it could use a fresh update (not awful by any means), and possibly drop in a new power steering pump as it sometimes goes hard, but not all the time.

I can't stand to see water in parking lens, interior looking like a Zoo, and a mechanical mess and they'll be asking 3800 to 5000 for it and oh rusty as can be!!!
