Default What is your experience with O2 sensors...

Since I am asking for your opinions there is no right or wrong here...I ask because I am getting ready to replace mine.

What type / brand of O2 sensors do you like? And feel free to rant...

NTK/NGK? Denso? Walker? K& N "Proline"

Im using NTK part#25044 in my disco. The plug was exact fit and 15000 miles on them so far and they havent givin me any problems. I cant say anything good, bad, or indifferent on the other brands because ive never used them in a LR.

i got the NGK's off amazon, i believe if you have a D1 the part number is 25044 or some combination of those numbers. They're 61$ a piece vs 130 from AB (atlantic British). I'm poor so i also am doing them AS they fail as opposed to a pair at a time. TECHNICALLY, if one upstream sensor fails, you should replace the PAIR of upstream sensors and do it with ones from AB. Most of the guys will also say that if you have near 100k on the truck and you think they're all original, you should replace all of them. BUt i replaced my A1 sensor a while ago and no issues so far (knock on wood) plug and play, no messing with the wiring harness, they clipped right in.

Good luck. Turf

You only need to replace the fronts, the rears do nothing except tell the ECU that the cats are working within spec. and have nothing to do with fuel ratio.
The fronts do all the fuel ratio, no codes for rear O2's leave them be.

Get the NTK's from Amazon.

Default keep it coming

thank you all for the feedback and suggestions so far... keep it coming for threads sake!

BTW, and FWIW (stupid internet-speak) my '95, 5 spd only has two lambdas (O2 sensors), before the cats... none after. Yet another reason why I love the '95 disco.

need more product reviews and opinions people.

Because in 1997 when they changed all of the emissions laws and obd II came out. Because your pre 1996/97 you should only have one o2 sensor to choose from so becareful because the 25044 is for an advanced evap system which yours is not do to the pre-1997. i believe you are looking for a NGK 25016 Oxygen Sensor. but i may be wrong i just know the 25044 is not for your 95 land rover.

In this thread it talk i ask how do i tell if im AEL or not (advanced emissions blah blah something)

but your truck is pre 1996 so you don't have two types to choose from.

so just be careful in which o2 sensor you buy, plus amazon has an auto thing to see if it fits your car as far as i know it works.

The '95 only uses two, upstream, but they cost more.
NTK 25016

Oddly, Amazon doesn't offer free shipping on them but do, or did, on the OBDII sensors.

Brand doesn't matter so much since NTK makes nearly all O2 sensors for everyone else and they just get repackaged. NTK was OEM for Rover.

mine are whatever Atlantoic British sells.......replaced the frt ones last summer....so far so good, a quick note for your tool box...FWIW....the thread size for the sensors is metric ....12mm x 1.25. One of mine messed up the threads bad enough getting it out that the new one wouldnt screw back in without tapping the hole first.

Yeah, I've had to run a thread chaser in them on occasion.
Good point though, if it doesn't thread in easily by hand, don't force it. Clean up the female threads first.
