i agree a cheap rear bumper would be great. Id do like the link I posted to dweb.

basicly a 2x4" metal tubing with endcaps would make me super happy..

4" being vertical and 2" being horizontal.

i gotta say I looked up all the bars, and I like the style of the Rovertym the best. The only problem is in my state (MN) I doubt the Rovertym would be technically a legal bumper, I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be a certain width (top to bottom). Those HLC bars aren't bad, tho.
Keep us posted about the availability of your bars, because the front bumper is the next big purchase I make. I'm taking off the silly stocker brush guard and cutting the front spoiler off this weekend.

I have been collecting web sites are pictures so we can make our own design.
We wont beable to please everyone, but functionality and price are our top 2 concerns.
We see a huge market in reasonably priced winch bumpers for these trucks.
$900 is alot of money and $400 does not seem to buy you much, so we are hoping to fill that gap.

I like all the designs, the reason I've got a stiffey for the receiver style is that it can be moved front to rear if necessay, transferred to another vehcle, stored out of elements, secured from teenagers like I used to be.

If I make mine, I'll just plasma a hole thru' front bumper, weld 3x3" angle across frame ears, as well as a 4x10 1/4" plate to back side of bumper which the mount passes thru'

You can purchase the plugs from hell, as used by electric fork lifts, for power plug-in, run a set of heavy cables to back (modified jumpers?)

The only problem with the receiver style is that you need a trailer hitch up front then.
Thats added cost and weight.

True, except if I span the frame rails just behind the front ears with a piece of 3x3 - 1/4" angle, then put a 2x2 hole in the middle of the bumper with a plate welded behind the bumper (unseen), all you'd see is the hole (unless you pushed a cap in it.)

I've unlimited access to a custom fab shop I work for (I tried to retire from there, they won't let me), and do their welding, amongst other things

It's a simple matter of welding the tube to the angle near the frame, then to the plate behind the bumper, I imagine it all can be fabbed on the bench, then welded in.

Nothing below the stock bumper, I've considered using a spring-loaded license plate bracket to hide it.

Use any of this, up to $50k, then I want 5% for intelletual property LOL

so have you guys seen this one? Looks good, but holy man they say it's 180 pounds. I know I'd have to get some spring spacers or super heavy springs, especially after putting a winch on, that'd be over 200# on the front bumper. wow....

Personaly i like the words.. Simple functionality, A simple strong winch bumper that ties into the body design easily and seamlessly. I'll try and draw something up when i get the extra time.
