For orientation, you're looking at the inside of the pass/rear door. Having done the solder fix and checked connections, I picked up a window motor that was labeled right/rear. When I put the replacement motor next to the one installed, they look like mirror images.

Am I just sleep deprived or did I get a left/rear motor?

 

You're not sleep deprived. Your conclusion is correct. Take it back and get the correct one.
