Default Windscreen questions

Hi,
First time posting and brand new to Land Rover with my recent purchase of a '97 Discovery. I have many items that need to be addressed but overall it seems like a good machine. Right now I'm looking at the weather coming in from leaky window seals and a poorly sealed (fairly new) windscreen, and the bit of rust forming in these areas. I want to avoid learning as much as possible from my own mistakes so I'm hoping to get some wisdom here. The windscreen was replaced and its come loose and I'm wondering if they did some poor body work and the rust has formed under the adhesive and lifted it up. I don't know how bad the rust is but it looks like its pitted and I wouldn't be surprised if there's some holes that need patching. I'm planning to clean all the rust and fill with epoxy; welding is out of my arena and hopefully that's not even a consideration based on how it looks after its pulled out. Also my newish windshield has no rubber except a piece on the bottom and I think this is not correct so I need to know the best practice for redoing this, including compatibility of products like, filler, primer, paint, sealant, and should I buy rubber for it or go without or some other good fix to keep the weather out. Also, I have some rust starting around the alpine windows but it looks less pitted than the top of the windshield. So if anyone has any info on this subject I'd appreciate the input.

Also, my plastic drip rail cap is all cracked and broken from hard driving by the PO and Im hoping to find spares that I can install on mine...

Thanks!

I'd suggest talking to someone that installs windshields, they can assess what yu have and point you in the right direction. When I had a windshield replaced that leaked water right in front of the driver, they fixed it up for no charge when they put the new glass in place. They can answer all your questions.
