We had a saying in the Cruise Missile Reliability Group regarding that type of event.

" Don't forget to change the brown ones too". As often times a repair tech would change all the blackened components that actually torched but neglect to replace the ones that you refer to. It only takes a few times for most to learn.

A totally burned up vehicle is a nasty sight.

 

Now that you've effectively turned copper wire into a toaster element it's current carrying capacity is at least halved not to mention the possibility of now bare wire(s). The likelihood of having a reoccurrence is just a matter of time. At least carry an extinguisher AT ALL TIMES.

(Really hard to find that in bottle stock......not to mention the shipping is outrageously expensive. A decent surrogate would be a Patio Torch, and as an added bonus it keeps mosquitos away for many hours......)

I say to increase the insurance coverage and carry a cooler full of hot dogs and coat hangers so you can enjoy the next fire. Make it a real roast. Or carry a pig in the back and let it BBQ it for you.

A trashed Disco would make a decent smoker for doing whole hogs in.
