Talking Working on Mutley

Well I bought another one 1996 D1 SE for a donor for Mutley.
Mutley has been running perfect till I took the wife out. He was back to Shutting off for no reason, hit the starter and he fires back up.
This time I noted that
When running fine and you roll out of the throttle you can see the rpms GRADUAL drop as you slow.
When he acts up you roll out of the throttle and the RPM DROPS like a stone almost like you pushed in the clutch (Automatic).
Any good guess?

Do you think it is a fuel issue, like a partial blockage of a fuel line or something starving the engine temporarily? Maybe a bad VSS? Wonder if that gas tank was in the recall. During the early years of the NA Disco they had a tank issue which would eventually cause a suction in the tank, collapse of the tank, and then a cracked tank, so then you had unexpected stalls. Others on here know alot more about that issue and the recall but might be a culprit. Just throwing out ideas. You can probably search and find a few threads on the bad tank issue.

If it will not idle but will run all day with your foot on the throttle keeping the RPM's above 500 it is a bad idle air control valve.
