$600 sounds a little high but I have never had that done so I really don't know. One thing that I highly recommend is that you use the original Land Rover water pump. It has a solid brass impeller. The after market ones have a stamped steel impeller, cheap bearings, and don't last as long.

The OE one is about $180, and has a brass billet impeller, as opposed to the cheap-o's (at least the two I've had my hands on, including that one you linked which I sent back to AB to get the OE one) have a stamped impeller.

In my opinion, its too critical of a part to go cheap on.

It bills out as a 1.1 hour job, so either they are charging you $500 for the water pump or they are charging you $500 per hour in labor.
