Default 01 Discovery bumper lights

Does the red section of the rear bumper lights come on with tail lights? The yellow section is the blinkers, and they work. Was just messing with the light units today and there are bulbs in the red section of assembly.

Thanks in advance.

those are "rear fog lights" it's a British thing. You turn them on with a button to the left of the steering wheel.

It's a European thing, actually.

They are intended to make your truck more visible in fog. They are brighter than normal tail lights, equivalent to brake lights. It's considered rude and inappropriate to run them all the time. They are supposed to be used only in cases of low visibility due to fog.

Thank you, that explains a lot. Because, when l popped it a part...it had an 1156 bulb, which would be comparable to a brake light bulb...in strength or brightness. And l thought that was weird set up for a tail light.

I thought about disconnecting and running some led spots on the back for backing up in the woods and what not.... :-)

Removed the 1156 bulbs and installed 67 type, a bulb that is commonly used for dome lights, spliced in a wiring harness to the trailer plug harness and ran new harness to both expatriated fog light positions...now l have four tail lights..."no brag, just fact".

Backing up issues are handled by the addition of these dudes.

I could have 4 tail lights just by changing the bulbs to a lower wattage and just clicking the button when I turn on the headlights with no wiring required, but I have some bad fog in the area sometimes and they have come in extremely handy during bad driving conditions (heavy rain) or in thick Fog. I have LED's in the Rear Fog's and they work great.

I can't stand driving in extremely bad rain only to have some idiot in front of me in a silver car/SUV with ZERO lights on... They should pass a law if you rear-end someone in a silver vehicle in extremely bad weather it's the silver vehicles fault for not having their lights on making their car invisible. Not talking about anyone on here BTW lol.
