Default 03-04 ARB bumper on a 99-02?

Hey all.

I'm looking at front bumpers for my '01, and I see that ARB makes seperate bumpers for 99-02's and 03-04's. I did a little looking around and I found that some people are saying the mounting locations for both bumpers are pretty much exactly the same, and either bumper can be fitted to any DII.

Is this correct? My OEM brush guard is completely rusted through at the bottom mounts, and I can just rock it up and down. It needs to be replaced, and I really like the look of the 03-04 ARB bumper with the built in foglights.

You can use either the 03-04 or the 99-02 ARB bumper on any 99-04 Disco.

The 03-04 does not have recovery points. If you are wheeling that is something to consider

You'll need adapters for the fog light harnesses, but they are available. Also the bumper might not line up with the grill properly and you might have to trim some plastic. Maybe.

Best to go with the 99-02, the center part is different and there are no recovery points on the 03-04 one like Taylor said.

Awesome, thanks for the input guys.

After looking around a bit more I actually like the slimline bumpers from Rovertym as well. Those would be better for wheeling too. The ARB just appeals to me looks wise.

I wouldn't trust the recovery point on the 99-02 ARB. They look very flimsy. I'm thinking about adding some of these to my 03: OKoffroad.com Recovery Gear - HD Bumper Shackle Mounts

They're not very strong, but I've been yanked with a kinetic energy rope at 90 degrees sideways without issue. Sure it bent a little, but there's so much energy there I can understand it.
