Well, unfortunately my dad recently passed and now i have this knocking noise. And upon reading the manual it even has a paragraph that states if i run less than 92 the engine might develop a knocking or metallic tapping sound. Which the vehicle now does.

Well I guess you figured out why they call it AKI rating or anti-"knock" index.

My manual says 90 to 92 which i think is funny since the most gas stations go from 89 to 92. I actually thought about doing the dilution of 89 and 92 to get an 90 octane. I am not sure if anyone has every tried this but I am sure some penny pincher has.

Personally I found my new best friend being the local grocery market where they offer 10 cent/gallon discounts if you buy enough bon bons in a month.

SEE THE PROBLEM?? WELL NOT THE PROBLEM, the future PROBLEM. YOU NEED TO DRAIN IT, FLUSH IT WITH WATER, FILL IT WITH ANOTHER ANTI FREEZE, DRIVE 1000 MILES AND FLUSH IT AGAIN WITH WATER..... LOOK UP DEX-COOL AND WHAT IT DOSE.
Just trying to help you.

The beers are a given. So i filled her up today and went for a nice drive. How long a period of time do you think it will take for the rover to adjust and thus no more knocking/tapping sounds?

At what point do i realize that i have done damage to the vehicle and need to take it to the dealer which is 3 hours away?

Best, Gordon
