Default 2003 Ticking but not quite like everyone else's ticking

Just had the oil pump, main bearings, flexplate, and a number of other bottom end "stuff" done to it. Have a gauge on it and oil pressure is good and strong. However about 100 or so miles after the work, it's ticking. Using a stethoscope I can tell its coming from the valves not the bottom end and it only ticks at idle and just above idle. By 1000-1100 RPM there is not a trace of a tick anywhere. Of course the shop is closed today but thought I would see if anyone else has this issue as well, with a new pump and solid pressure.

All the posts I can find always relate back to a broken oil pump. Well, mine is shiny new and working great with 20 PSI at idle.

I am a bit confused but maybe it's "just a Rover thing"... ?

That was my first thought. Next thought was should I worry about it.

I don't know, shop just did it after doing all the work. I was running T6 before and had no issues. Might have to do an early change on it and go back.

In a warm area you should be running the Rotella 15w40 year round... Most shops follow the (incorrect) factory recommendation and put in a 5 or 10 weight oil... Sometimes even synthetic.

That is a good point. I am in SoCal so it's quite warm and I was running 15w40 before..

Is the tick only there when the engine is warm?

I'm in Sacramento, and have very similar behavior. Mine only happens when warm, and I can't notice it anywhere just over idle. I have 10w40 in right now, but that's mostly due to being parked up in the mountains once a week for skiing.
