The temperature readings are all surface temperatures done with raytek gun, OTHER than the ones that are first listed as gauge, those are from aftermarket sending unit in the brass tee where bleeder is. All temperatures are listed 2x as I tested 2 different days. All temperatures are the hoses, top, bottom referring to the top radiator hise and bottom. Yes I do it acts like a constant ODB reader and as my Temp gauge via an old Cell phone.

Even given insulation from the hose, 40 degrees is way too much differential between the hose and the temp gauge.

BUT if you are running around 189 at the thermostat outside say 196ish inside you are running stockish temps.

Surface temps, same parameters except 80 degrees outside now. HotHott reading I could find on top of engine 180 at the aluminum right where the tiny coolant line comes out. 150 is the hottest I could find attached the factory sending unit. 170 is the hottest temperature I could find on the brass tee when my sending unit is and reading 205.
