Did you check the VIN on the '03 for the oil pump issue? Could make the block swap an easier decision is all.

If anyone EVER needs a rebuilt engine, I recommend buying one from those guys. He recommended that I try a helicoil kit or time sert and run the motor since it has so few miles. Great guy. I'll post again if/when I figure something out.

No more time into that motor.
If they striped in the first 90 degrees either the 15 lbs was more like 30 or so
or that block is so soft..

Were the holes free of coolant / liquids? Remember, liquids don't compress. Always blow out the holes with compressed air.

No, I definitely blew the holes out to clear the oil and coolant out. Also, I had to before I chased the threads. I had another insert pull out last night. I am going to order a Big-sert kit and try that route. It's pretty much a last option. The block is out of the truck now, and a machine shop wanted 650 to put threaded inserts in and deck it..

I have done 1.4 million sets of head gaskets. Number of bolt holes stripped: 0
Must have had coolant in the holes. I'll take the block you ruined though...
